About
Cancertacularâ„¢ was born out of necessity. Warriors should not feel alone while battling childhood cancer, and survivors must know that other survivors exist in NEPA. The reality remains that kids that call NEPA home must leave home for treatment. They typically travel to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Janet Weiss Children’s Hospital in Danville, Hershey Medical Center, AI Dupont in Wilmington, Delaware, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan. Cancertacular has visited each of these facilities. The Social Work and Child Life teams are familiar with our programs. What happens upon return home? You become a part of the Cancertacularâ„¢ neighborhood.
We welcome you with open arms to our neighborhood and invite you to click around and make yourself at home. There is a quarterly newsletter at the News Stand, and useful resources in the Library. You can find fun ways to get involved with the organization at the Community Club House and check out our contests at the Playground. If that’s not enough, check out our blog about life after Childhood Cancer or contact us through the Post Office! As you click around the neighborhood you will see lots of gold and lavender. These two colors are very important to our cause as gold is the color of Childhood Cancer and the color lavender is representative of all cancers.
The members of the Welcome Committee were all born and raised in NEPA, and choose to live here now. Tina is a 21 year Pediatric Cancer Survivor, and is backed by an amazingly supportive crew of people. You can find out more about each of us by reading our bios and by contacting us if you have any questions. Keep in mind we are NOT medical experts. We are a family that has successfully survived Childhood Cancer together. We would be honored to lend one of our strong shoulders to your family, whether it’s time to take action, time to pray, or time to rejoice!
